"Smart Women Care About All of the Children In Our Community"

Do you want to learn more about issues facing so many of the children in our community and how you can make a difference?  Join us in engaging the leader of one of South Texas' leading child welfare agencies and learn:
  • The contributing factors to child abuse and neglect,

  • How accessible mental health services can stem the tide of child abuse and neglect cases and fatalities

  • The critical need for foster care families and how Texas is inching closer to child welfare reform

  • How investing in prevention services can decrease the number of child abuse victims, strengthen families and lower the number of children entering the foster care system

  • How you can be involved with The Children's Shelter and make a difference in the life of a child and family

Our provocateur, Annette Rodriguez, President/CEO of The Children's Shelter, is passionate about education and children's and women's issues.  Annette began her career working in Prevention Programs where she conceived and directed Project Mothers and School, a program which serves pregnant and parenting teens.  Annette also founded the San Antonio affiliate of Girls, Inc. which served over 10,000 girls in our community since its inception in 2004.  Annette now heads The Children's Shelter where over 3,000 clients are provided comprehensive emergency shelter, residential treatment care, and foster and adoptive homes for abused, abandoned or neglected children, along with a variety of other services.
