Bloomberg Business Program

The San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to present the 2023 Bloomberg Business Program. This program has completed its 10th year since its inception 11 years ago by Dr. Yvonne Katz, Executive Director, and Dr. David Vequist, professor at UIW.

What to Expect

This six-part series is conducted by doctoral and professional level facilitators discussing timely topics found in the Bloomberg Businessweek magazine, offered at a discount to SAWCC members.

Major business topics will be pursued with the goal of focusing on leadership and personal/professional development, business acumen, strategies and trends, using real life examples from the periodical, as well as issues being faced by participants.

Participants are expected to attend ALL sessions (our 4th session will be done on ZOOM); read Bloomberg Business Weekly magazine articles, in addition to any other homework assignments, prior to each session; and, be prepared to discuss during the session.

Participants will also receive first-hand knowledge from expert speakers from the San Antonio business community.  Below are the topics and invited Expert Speakers for the planned 2023 sessions:

April 25 – “Get to Know the Room” & expectation of the Bloomberg Business Program.

May 16 –Five Generations in the Work Place; “How to Understand & Appreciate the Differences”- Dr. Tom Cleary, Vice-Chancellor for Planning, Performance and Information Systems – Alamo Colleges District.

June 13 – “Purpose Driven Career” – Katie Harvey, KGBTexas Communications/CEO

July 18 (On ZOOM)-Leadership Styles Assessment; “How To understand What Drives You & Those Around You” Betty Burks, Consultant – BBurks Consulting, LLC.  Lunch will not be served at this session.

August 15 -“Mentoring and Leadership” – Kellie Cubeta, Partner, Cubeta Law Group.

September 19 -” Growth of San Antonio through its People, Finances, Geography, and Showing How Women Play a Primary Role” and BB Graduation- Panel: Erika Prosper, First Lady/Director H-E-B; Romanita Matta-Barrera, Chief Workforce Officer, Greater SA; Asia Ciaravino, CEO/President, The Children’s Shelter. .

Program Details

These sessions will be IN PERSON at The Victory Center located on the San Antonio College Campus (SAC) at 1819 N. Main Ave: April 25, May 16, June 13, July 18, August 15 and September 19.  

These sessions are in person with the exception of the July 18th session which will be done on ZOOM.  
 
Sessions begin at 11 am and end at 1 pm. Cost for the entire series is $275 for members, $325 for non-members.  All fees must be paid in full prior to the first session.

A pre-program survey must be completed before the first session. The link will be included in the confirmation email that is received after you complete registration.

GRADUATION

A graduation certificate will be given to those who complete the program. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded through the University of the Incarnate Word at the conclusion of the program, for those that qualify and request them.

LUNCH

Lunch will be provided and is included in the fee for all sessions with the exception of the July 18 session which will be done via Zoom.
